150 word bio:
The Naarm based rapper, producer and multidisciplinary artist began her career as a classical musician, initially experimenting with hip hop as a rebellion to the conservative and stifling environment she found herself in. Her rap alter-ego soon took over as her main creative pursuit after the success of her first single “Breakfast” in 2017. Fresh Violet immersed herself in the Australian Hip Hop scene and quickly rose to prominence, releasing two EPs, a self-produced LP and completed seven national tours in three short years.
After significant delays and hurdles, Fresh Violet is delighted to finally release her second LP Life of Vi The project is the distillation of a new level of maturity and skill for the artist. Fresh Violet Long Bio (500 Words)
Fresh Violet is a multi-disciplinary artist hailing from Naarm (Melbourne, Australia). Although she is best known as a rapper, Violet is also a producer, song writer, classically trained multi-instrumentalist, video producer and director, dancer and set and costume designer.
Since her debut release in 2017, Violet has consistently challenged the status quo of Australian hip hop. She has been welcomed as a breath of fresh air and has established herself as a staple of the scene.
Her first EP 'ACKBARS' was released on May the 4th, 2018. The project received an enthusiastic response from fans and the media alike. All 6 tracks received airplay across the country including spins on Triple J for 'Headline Level' and 'No Sheep'. This initial release and early singles from her album led to Violet being dubbed "One of the most promising voices in Aus Hip Hop" by Beat Mag and "One of the best in the underground right now" by Triple J.
The success of ACKBARS landed Violet a support slot on a three month national tour with the acclaimed Australia rock band Mammal, playing the opening set of each show and joining them on stage to perform a guest verse to packed venues all around Australia. Upon returning from tour Fresh Violet released her self-produced 12 track album ‘50 Shades of Violet’, considered a triumph by fans and critics alike.
The LP is a diverse tapestry of styles and beats that centre around Violet’s journey as a hip hop artist so far. The project delves far deeper into Violet’s psyche and experiences than any preceding release; establishing her as a multidimensional artist and personality. Fresh's ability to effortlessly switch between and blend trap, grime, electronic pop and more is earning her high praise from Triple J, community radio, MTV and her loyal fan base.
Fresh is well known and loved for her live shows which she has been touring around Australia. Fresh's versatility, raw power and off-the-wall persona shines through in all her performances. She has performed at festivals and events such as 'The Town', 'Leaps and Bounds Festival', ‘Melbourne Writers Festival’, ‘Jungle Love’, Melbourne International Comedy Festival and a headline show for Brunswick Music Festival as well as supporting Hip Hop legends including Snak the Ripper (CA), Cormega (USA), Butterfingers, Mistress of Ceremony, P.Smurf, Rapaport, N'Fa and many more.
Violet spent the first half of 2019 touring with Butterfingers as their main support in 21 cities around Australia. Upon returning she released a collaborative EP with Card Houses titled ‘Aliens Aliens Aliens!’ and started work on her second album. After some significant complications and delays, Violet’s 2nd LP is slated for release October 6, 2023. The first singles from the project ‘Cherry’ and ‘The Mess You Left’ are out now.
